Here are a few crucial pointers about who I am:
a) I am, in no way, shape or form, a morning person.
b) I love dogs and strawberries more than most things in life (except my family and friends, duh).
c) I don’t like hummus (gasp!)
d) I have a ridiculously loud laugh.
I’m a 20-something living, working and playing in Washington, DC. I’m busy busy all the time and am a very social one, but also adore watching films, finding new, underground bands, art (I studied art history in college) and relishing in my alone time. I’m an easy-going, lighthearted person who finds the word “duty” hilarious.
I grew up being very athletic (and almost played field hockey in college) and still work out and play soccer regularly, and I completed my first race ever on April 11, 2010 – the ten mile cherry blossom run – and am looking forward to more races in my future. But, I am finally seriously ready to lose 30 lbs. that I’ve been flirting with for the last few years. Between college and being emotionally drained for a long time (bye, depression!), the pounds crept on… and now that I’m 100% happy for the first time in years, my weight is the last thing I would like to change about myself.
After attempts at Body for Life, South Beach and all that jazz, I’ve finally rejoined the one thing I know works for me! In June 2010, I signed up for Weight Watchers (follow my progress on my weight to the watchers page) and am on a quest to lose 30 lbs. before my brother’s wedding in the fall. I have been embracing new forms of exercise, eating new things (why hello, green smoothies), and am determined to become the healthiest, happiest me I can become. Join me on my journey! It’s sure to be full of hijinx, just because things get a little crazy over here in Samantha town.
