i took yesterday off work (shh, don’t tell) because i needed a physical AND mental health day. it was lovely, and i already feel lighter. woke up around 8 to take care of some emails, and went back to bed until 10. glorious! got up and cleaned and then made this scrumptious brunch. back on the healthy eating bandwagon, wahoo!
two eggies over mixed greens with olive oil and sea salt, a grapefruit and a piece of toast enjoyed while watching food network (something i never do anymore, i forgot how calming it is) and some jasmine green tea. skipped out at noon to head to a doctor’s appointment (think i’ve finally kicked this cold, thank you decongestants and sleep) and took a nice long walk to the gym. still can’t run, and my sneakers are in my office anyway, so i walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes (2 miles) at an incline anywhere from 4.0 – 7.0. felt good to get a tiny sweat going.
once home, i made myself a little snack: yoatgurt. this bad boy had 1/3 c. oats, 1/3 c. plain yog, frozen berries warmed and a small scoop of chunky pb. that spoon is like a milkshake spoon – long and small! it’s my favorite, i have a weird thing for small spoons. all consumed while watching the 3rd period of the usa vs. switzerland ice hockey game (woo usa! 2 – 0!). it was then naptime, and i woke up to have a quick dinner of defrosted white bean soup, green beans sprinkled with sea salt and lemon juice, and a small sweet potato roasted with some onion and a teaspoon of olive oil.
i skedaddled and headed out to meet a few friends for a glass of wine before we headed to a concert – st. vincent. it was PACKED, something i wasn’t expecting as she is a largely underground/hipsterish phenomena. the show was a little crazy, and the flashing lights and her haunting voice made it an out of body experience. i was so happy to be there, but equally happy to get home and crawl into bed. mmm. does anyone go to a lot of concerts? i generally try, but sometimes the ticket costs really add up!
